Who Uses Teacher's Pet


Teacher's Pet is used by educators within our school community. Each teacher receives a secure account and can only access their own class information, ensuring complete privacy and data protection.

All communication and automation flows are limited to internal staff members. Teachers control their own workflows, decide when to record notes, and maintain complete oversight of what gets shared with families.

Our user community consists exclusively of verified educators who have been granted access by school administrators. This closed system ensures security, maintains appropriate boundaries, and creates a trusted environment for sensitive student information.

How Messaging Works

SMS is only sent to approved teachers within our organization. Teacher's Pet does NOT send SMS messages to parents, customers, or the public. No marketing or promotional content is ever transmitted.

All parent communication happens exclusively through email, ensuring clear boundaries between internal teacher workflow tools and external family engagement. This separation protects privacy, maintains professionalism, and ensures compliance with messaging regulations.

By providing their phone number or sending a message to the Teacher’s Pet system, teachers consent to receive internal-only SMS reminders. Teachers may receive between 1-3 messages per week. Teachers reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe. Message & data rates may apply.

Teacher's Pet ("we," "us," or "our") is an internal workflow tool designed for teachers to record classroom notes, track tasks, and receive occasional automated reminder messages. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information.

Teacher's Pet is intended only for educators and staff members who are authorized to use the platform. We do not offer services to the general public.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information from teachers who use the Teacher's Pet system:

  • Phone number (for internal SMS reminders)
  • Email address
  • Class rosters or parent contact lists that teachers upload or connect via Google Sheets
  • Voice notes or text entries submitted by teachers
  • Any additional information provided while using the tool

Automatically Collected Information

  • Message metadata (timestamps, delivery confirmations)
  • Workflow logs and system activity related to your use of the platform

We do not collect sensitive personal information outside of what teachers voluntarily enter as part of their workflow.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information collected solely for operational and educational purposes, including:

  • Sending internal SMS reminders to teachers (never parents or students)
  • Processing teacher voice notes into summaries
  • Organizing weekly updates that teachers send to parents via email only
  • Supporting internal task tracking and workflow management
  • Improving the reliability and functionality of the Teacher's Pet system

We do not use any information for marketing or promotional purposes.

3. Who Receives Messages

Teacher's Pet sends SMS messages only to teachers and staff members who are authorized users of the platform.

Teacher's Pet does NOT send SMS messages to parents, students, customers, or the general public.

Parents only receive email updates generated by the system.

4. How Teachers Provide Consent

Teachers provide consent to receive SMS reminders when they:

  • Create an account or are onboarded into Teacher's Pet, and/or
  • Submit their phone number for internal communications, and/or
  • Initiate communication with the system (e.g., sending a voice note or message to our designated number)

Opt-Out

Teachers may opt out of SMS reminders at any time by replying:

STOP

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for marketing or promotional use.

We may share limited information only with trusted service providers who help us operate the platform (such as messaging providers or transcription tools), and only to the extent necessary to perform our services.

These providers are not permitted to use your information for any other purpose.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or misuse.

While no system is completely secure, we work to safeguard teacher and student data at all times.

7. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as necessary to support the internal educational purposes of Teacher's Pet or to meet legal requirements.

Teachers may request deletion of their data by contacting us at any time.

8. Children's Privacy

Teacher's Pet is used by teachers and staff—not children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from students or minors.

Any student information included in rosters or notes is used solely for internal educational purposes at the direction of teachers.

9. Google API Services / Gmail Data

Teacher's Pet allows authorized teachers to connect their own Gmail account so that parent update emails can be sent directly from the teacher's email address.

When a teacher connects Gmail, Teacher's Pet requests access only to send email on the teacher's behalf. Teacher's Pet does not read, search, analyze, delete, or modify the contents of the teacher's Gmail inbox.

Google user data is used solely to provide the functionality requested by the teacher, including:

  • Sending weekly parent updates
  • Sending immediate parent updates when requested by the teacher
  • Maintaining the teacher's Gmail connection so they do not need to reconnect before every email

Teacher's Pet securely stores encrypted OAuth tokens only as necessary to maintain the teacher's Gmail connection. These tokens are never shared or sold.

Teacher's Pet does not sell Google user data, does not use Google user data for advertising, and does not share Google user data with third parties except as necessary to operate the service or as required by law.

Teacher's Pet does not use Google Workspace API data or Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalized artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) models.

Teachers may revoke Gmail access at any time through their Google Account settings or by contacting Teacher's Pet to remove their connected account and associated data.

Teacher's Pet's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

3. Consent to Receive SMS

By using Teacher's Pet and submitting your phone number during onboarding, you consent to receive internal SMS reminders related to your weekly tasks and workflow.

You may reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe.

4. Email Communication

Teacher's Pet may generate email communications to parents on behalf of the teacher.

These emails are informational and related to student progress.

Parents do not receive SMS messages.

5. Data Usage

Teacher and student information is processed solely for educational and operational purposes.

Data practices are outlined in our Privacy Policy.

6. Third-Party Providers

Teacher's Pet uses third-party services (such as messaging or transcription providers) to operate the platform.

These providers are permitted to use information only as needed to deliver the service.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access for any misuse, security concerns, or policy violations.

You may discontinue use at any time and request data deletion.

8. Limitation of Liability

Teacher's Pet is provided "as is," without warranties.

We are not responsible for:
