Why I Built Teacher's Pet

Parents were missing the best parts of their child's week.

A teacher kneeling beside a young student at a classroom desk

Every day, I had the privilege of watching my students grow.

Not just academically. As people.

I saw the breakthrough when something finally clicked. The quiet act of kindness that no one else noticed. The student who finally found the confidence to raise a hand. The child who kept trying even when something was difficult.

Those were the moments that reminded me why I loved teaching.

But there was something that always bothered me.

Most parents never got to hear about them.

Not because teachers don't care. Because teachers are busy being teachers.

There were lessons to prepare. Papers to grade. Worksheets to print. Meetings to attend. Parents to call. Students who needed extra attention. Every day was full.

Like so many teachers, I genuinely wanted parents to know about these incredible moments. I wanted them to experience the joy of watching their child grow — not just through report cards or parent-teacher conferences, but through the dozens of small victories that happen every single week.

But I simply didn't have a realistic way to capture those moments while they were happening.

And over time I realized something.

Parents usually heard from school when something went wrong. Or when there was a major event.

But the real story of a child's year wasn't found in those moments. It was found in all the ordinary days in between.

Those quiet victories. Small breakthroughs. Acts of kindness. Moments of perseverance. Tiny steps forward that, over time, become remarkable growth.

I couldn't stop thinking about that. Because I knew parents would treasure those stories if only there were an easy way to share them.

So I built Teacher's Pet.

Not to replace teachers. Not to automate relationships. But to make it effortless to capture those meaningful moments while they're still fresh.

So when parents hear from school… they don't just hear about grades. Or problems. They hear about growth.

Because every child deserves to have their story told.

Week 12

Shalom Aleichem Mr. and Mrs. Cohen,

This week, Josh showed a quiet kindness that I don't want to let pass without sharing. During independent work, he noticed a classmate struggling and, without being asked, moved his chair over to help — patiently, gently, and without making a moment of it.

It's the kind of small gesture that tells you a great deal about the person he is becoming.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

Week 13

Shalom Aleichem Mr. and Mrs. Levine,

A quick note about Eli this week. He read aloud in front of the class for the first time this month — and he chose to do it. He was nervous going in, but he steadied himself, took his time, and finished with a real smile.

The class clapped for him. He deserved every bit of it.

Wishing you a peaceful Shabbos.

Week 14

Shalom Aleichem Mr. and Mrs. Cohen,

This week, Josh continued to impress me with his perseverance. During Chavrusa's, I watched him stick with a challenging problem even when it didn't come easily, and the smile on his face when he finally got it was wonderful to see.

I also noticed him quietly helping a classmate without being asked — a small moment that spoke volumes about his growing maturity.

It's a privilege to watch Josh continue to grow each week.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

A wonderful week for Moshe

Hi Mr and Mrs Schwartz! Moshe had a great week. On Tuesday he read aloud for the first time this month, and the class gave him a warm round of applause. He's growing so much in confidence.
